August photo favorites

We started out the month with a camping trip! I hadn't been in about 11 years (wow) and it was the first time camping as a family! We went to Rainbow Point and it didn't disappoint. Campsites were right by Lake Cascade and the weather was perfect. Sleep wasn't the best in our 4 person tent, but it was only one night and we survived. But may I ask who decides how many people "fit" in a tent, because it definitely needed to be bigger??

^ The girls were wiped after our camping trip, which I think translated - good adventure.

^ Paige is able to take a backpack to school this year and when it came in the mail she was excited. She put that thing on as soon as she got it opened, took it off at bedtime, and then put it right back on first thing in the morning (even wearing it through breakfast!).

^ Being silly goggles.

^ We took the girls to Roaring Springs (water park) and we had a great time! Ellie was so brave, riding some more mature slides and I (Kait) squealed louder than her on one in particular!

^ The relationship Ellie has with one of our cats, Luna is so precious. Luna will go into Ellie's room as soon as she opens her door in the morning and anytime Ellie has quiet time. They have a sweet bond.

^ This 1st grader was excited and nervous about school. She was able to happily talk/walk with a neighborhood friend to school this morning (pictured below). But when we got to her line she grabbed my hand and did not want us to leave. She got teary eyed and therefore I (Kait) got all choked up. At that moment though her teacher walked up and started to talk and say just what needed to be said and done to cheer Ellie up. When we picked her up she said it was a great day and she's not so nervous anymore!

^ Ellie brought this home on the first day of school. (And I'll also note that each day that first week got better and better. Now she goes with no nerves and is doing really well.)

^ August 16th...13th anniversary!! Lucky 13 indeed! We are always learning how to better communicate with each other, we're always dreaming together, and so much more! Love spending this life together!

^ Top 5 photos were from the State Fair. We hadn't been in a few years and it was so fun doing all the rides we could with the girls. They loved it. Paige went on her first (little) rollercoaster and loved it.

^ Paige is still such a cuddle/touch gal. She just placed her hand on me while she played on the iPad.

The next several photos are from our Warm Lake cabin trip. Unfortunately Steven couldn't get work off, but us girls were able to join two other families for a few days. Each family has 2 girls and they all got along so well for being with each other from sun up to sun down.
It's always nice to get away for a little bit and make some new memories.

^ Right when we got home from our Warm Lake trip Ellie lost her first tooth! It had been loose for about a month and two adult teeth have been growing in right behind those bottom front ones. Finally we got one out and her excitement/shock was priceless. We don't do the tooth fairy, we're the "Tooth Parents" though...something Ellie came up with on her own. We wanted to do something traditional still and I offered my tooth pillow from my childhood for Ellie to use and she of course wanted it.
The last couple months have been filled with lots of fun firsts!

July photo favorites

Independence Day fun!
Photo below: one of the kids initiated a cheers and I had to capture it, blurry and all.

Road trip to Grants Pass, Oregon (my, Kait's, home town). The girls did well all things considered...it's about a 9.5 hour drive one way. It helped that they took a nap!

^ All around downtown there are these special bears, decorated/in costumes and this was one of the favs.

^ I had to take the girls to a classic place called the Grants Pass Pharmacy to get phosphates drink.

^ Grammie wanted to have special time with the girls in their newly built greenhouse.

^ Tradition - take a photo of us 4 girls together during each visit!

^ I can never get over all the beautiful trees on the drive.

^ Steven went on a 3 day/2 night backpacking trip and Ellie made this banner all by herself for dad to see when he got back. Her thoughtfulness never ceases to amaze me.

Paige rocked her well check and so a treat commenced afterwards (she picked Sonic). She has always had a hard time at doctor visits, crying basically the whole time and not talking to the nurse or doctor. BUT this time she didn't even shed one tear and talked to everyone well! Major progress for sure.

^ We love exploring trails and there was no shortage of that this summer.

^ These top 3 photos were done by Paige. Last photo is a cat...a not so happy cat? haha

^ Elsa by Ellie for Paige

^ Ellie drew her riding her bike, with Steven running next to her. He gets a good workout running next to her.

^ I would say this movie is one of the girls' favorite movies. Paige picks it more than Ellie, too. One day Paige even hollered "Navajo!!"  several times in one day, like Marva Sr. says during one scene. It was hilarious how random it was and how well she impersonated her.

Photo above: water adventures with friends.
Photo below: one on one time with Paige.

Lucky Peak, Sandy Beach.
Steven and the girls went on a paddle board for the first time and Ellie even wanted to row herself.
There were no falls in the water!
